Mariana Chies Santiago Santos

Biografia

Postdoc researcher at the Center for the Study of Violence of the University of Sao Paulo (NEV/USP). She holds a PhD in Sociology (2018) from the Graduate Program in Sociology of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), approved with distinction. She concluded a doctoral internship at the Centre de Recherches Sociologiques sur le Droit et les Institutions Pénales (CESDIP) of the UVSQ (2014/2015). She concluded her MA (2013) in Criminal Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS), approved with distinction, where she also specialized in Penal Sciences (2011). She holds a BA in Social Sciences from UFRGS (2013) and a BA in Law from PUCRS (2009). She is the Chief Coordinator of the Department of Childhood and Youth of the Brazilian Institute of Criminal Sciences (IBCCRIM). She mainly works under the following fields: Legal Sociology, Juvenile Justice, Criminal Law and Procedure, Public Security, Conflict Administration and Criminology.
