Rebelião na Ilha Anchieta em 1952 e a primeira grande crise na segurança pública paulista

Resumo

Este artigo descreve e analisa os principais acontecimentos da história do sistema prisional paulista entre os anos 1940 e 1960, tendo como momento principal a rebelião de 1952 na Ilha Anchieta, que desencadeou a primeira grande crise na segurança pública do estado. Nossa hipótese é que nesse período a inserção dos criminosos nas instituições de controle e a imposição de práticas punitivas favoreceram a emergência de associações entre presos para fugas e para a organização da rebelião de 1952. As principais fontes foram os debates e registros do Poder Legislativo estadual, os relatórios policiais e de secretários de estado, e informações da imprensa.

Abstract

The article Rebellion on Ilha Anchieta in 1952 and the First Major Crisis in Public Security in São Paulo describes and analyzes the most important events in the history of the prison system between the years 1940 and 1960, with the main moment being the 1952 rebellion on Anchieta Island, which triggered the first major public security crisis in the state. Our hypothesis is that in this period the insertion of the criminals in the institutions of control and the imposition of punitive practices favored the emergence of associations between prisoners in escape plans and for the organization of the rebellion of 1952. The main sources were the debates and registries of the State Legislative Power, police reports and state secretaries, and press information.
