André Vilela Komatsu

Biografia

Postdoctoral researcher at the Center for the Study of Violence of the University of Sao Paulo (NEV-USP) and professor at the Graduate Program in Psychology of the Mackenzie Presbyterian University. He holds a PhD in Psychology from USP, with a doctoral internship at the University of Barcelona (UB), and an MA in Psychology from USP. He is a Psychologist and holds a BA in Psychology from USP. He served as a visiting research professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Barcelona (2018-2019). In 2019, he received an award from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC – Education for Justice) at the XIX World Congress of Criminology, Doha, Qatar. In 2018, he participated in the Grupo de Estudios Avanzados en Violencia (GEAV-UB), in which we developed award-winning researches during the Encuentro de Jóvenes Investigadores en Criminologia in Barcelona. In 2018, he took part in an internship at the School of Criminology, Faculty of Law, University of Porto. In 2016, he was president of the Juvenile Delinquency section of the 18th World Congress of Criminology in New Delhi, India. He is a member of the Study and Research Group on Psychosocial Development and Intervention (GEPDIP-USP) and the Portuguese Language International Association on Criminology (AICLP). He serves as a consultant and statistical analyst for companies and academic researches. He develops scientific works in the field of Developmental and Personality Psychology, and Legal and Forensic Psychology, particularly under the following subjects: prevention of violence; risk assessment; assessment, prevention and intervention in juvenile delinquency; effects of substance use and abuse; influencing factors for the legitimation of laws and authorities; and promotion of resilience.
